There is no way I am using gift of healing. Half my spells are healing, half are protector. I have 12 stats in healing, and 15 in protection. Using gift of healing in this situation is pointless, I put myself at risk of dying and there is nothing I can do about it because my healing spells are disabled. Maybe this spell is awesome when you have little stats in healing prayer, but I dont, I have lots of stats in healing.

Poobert, that elite "Life Sheath" looks awesome, I am going to capture it and play around with it.

I like to thank everyone for helping me, I have read everyones comments and I have considered everyones recommendations, my monk has changed completely from when I first posted here, I have learnt a lot. I am now a hybird monk, and no longer full heal.

You need to rearrange your screen so that you can easily find the upkeep button then. You can also cast while you are dropping the veil. It's actually only a net 4s faster recharge as well.

He's right, pure healing builds for the most are complete trash. There's a few times I'd like them but 95% of the time I want hybrids.

Most good protector skills cost 10 energy each, I can exhaust my entire energy with 5 spells....I fail to believe how 1 protector spell per ally can save them from death.Yes with healing spells you fix what you could of prevented, but at least you know when you heal, the energy isn't put to waste.
Don't try to protect everyone because most people aren't taking damage. If you can see a warrior creature wailing away on someone, prot them, but if someone else is perfectly safe don't waste your energy. It comes down to watching the field and protting the people who need it only.

You should only use GoH if you have it as your only heal skill, nobody wants you to force to equip this skill.

Having almost no points in Divine Favour is dumb, it's a free heal for your target, split your points better, e.g. 12/12/10 (heal, prot and divine).

Long time player, newbie monk here. Thanks for all awesome tips in this thread; I've found them very helpful in improving my own monk!

I've put together a build that has been working much better than my previous one, but I'm sure could be improved a bit more.

[skill]protective spirit[/skill][skill]shield of absorption[/skill][skill]healing touch[/skill][skill]reversal of fortune[/skill][skill]dismiss condition[/skill][skill]gift of health[/skill][skill]Smite Hex[/skill][skill]Rebirth[/skill]

I realize I don't have an elite skill. Any suggestions on what to replace, with what? Life Sheath was looking pretty good.... This is for PvE, by the way.

Thanks.

[skill]Shield of Regeneration[/skill] is greater than PvE. Never run Life Sheath - it's an elite [skill]Reversal of Fortune[/skill].

For hybrid builds i like [skill]Word of Healing[/skill], [skill]Life Sheath[/skill], or [skill]Light of Deliverance[/skill]. Depends a lot on what the other monk is running though, i usually change my build every time i pug...

When I go with heroes i setup dunk as pure heal with LoD (and prot spirit) and go
[skill]Signet of Devotion[/skill][skill]Dismiss Condition[/skill][skill]Guardian[/skill][skill]Shield of Absorption[/skill]
[skill]Zealous Benediction[/skill][skill]Gift of Health[/skill][skill]Spirit Bond[/skill][skill]Rebirth[/skill]

I tend not to bother with hexes in pve tbh.. generally they dont really hurt all that much anyway.

If running a hybrid I'd take a sig, a few heals (maybe WoH), cond removal and a combo of shield of absorption/guardian/spiritbond.

I used to love running [skill]Blessed Light[/skill][skill]Infuse Health[/skill] with another two heals (orison and dwayna usually), cond removal, sig and two prot skills (shield of absorption/guardian/prot spirit).. But i play around a lot.

I have 9 in divine favour, not 0. I was just showing you all the points in healing prayers and the points I have in protection prayer, I didnt include divine favour but yes, I have 9 in that. It's good because as you said, its a free heal.

In my opinion, if you have [skill]Zealous Benediction[/skill] [skill]Gift of Health[/skill] and [skill]Reversal of Fortune[/skill] you got all the healing you will ever need.

I'll give you a skillbar that hasn't failed me yet.

[skill]Zealous Benediction[/skill][skill]Gift of Health[/skill][skill]Dismiss Condition[/skill][skill]Deny Hexes[/skill][skill]Divine Spirit[/skill][skill]rebirth[/skill]

There are 2 spots left, many interchangables in this, for instance you can put in [skill]Aegis[/skill] or [skill]Guardian[/skill] or [skill]Protective Spirit[/skill] or [skill]Reversal of Fortune[/skill] or [skill]Spirit Bond[/skill] or [skill]Shield of Absorption[/skill] or, this is entirely dependand on what the other monk on your team has or if you're solo monking.

Quoted for Truth!

If you put SoR on someone they are virtually unstoppable for 12 seconds (at 14 prot), 14.4 with a +20% and 19 seconds with +20and Blessed Aura (or 22 seconds with 16 prot)! This is even true in HM, although it sometiems needs Shielding hands or SoA as a cover.

Also, I have always thought that, on a mostly Divive/Healing bar, Mark of Protection is pretty solid. Yeah, it takes a long time to recharge, it disables prot for 5 seconds, but still, it is like an elite Healing Hands because it doesn't just heal the damage, it negates and heals (seriously though, HH is crap). It is like a RoF that hits on every single piece of damage on the target for 10 seconds, up to 60 damage each hit. You can easily take someone from nearly dead to full health within that time.

They assumed you had 0 divine because only fools run multiple superior runes without reason.

As stated before, have a better split, such as 11/10/10 (with 1 sup rune at most, the rest minors if necessary), 12/10/8, or 12/9/9.

But you are mistaken... I had a reason. My scar eater gave me so much HP, I could afford to have 2 sup runes. Don't say I had no reason, I did!

A little update for you all. I am no longer full heal. I have moved to half protector and half heal. I have a major protection prayer rune and a major healing prayer rune. I have no superior runes now.

Any comments/suggestions welcome.

like it gettign better no [skill]Orison of Healing[/skill]. but imo id drop [skill]Life Sheath[/skill] for [skill]Restore Condition[/skill],[skill]Zealous Benediction[/skill],[skill]Shield of Regeneration[/skill] or [skill]Divert Hexes[/skill]
also id drop [skill]Guardian[/skill] for [skill]Signet of Rejuvenation[/skill] or [skill]Infuse Health[/skill]. gardian is nice but its out dated. tho u coudl drop [skill]Dwayna's Kiss[/skill][skill]Words of Comfort[/skill] for a hex/condtion removle, only take one, make ure the other monk has the other. i find thats a better way some times, tho tkae hex remover if u take [skill]Restore Condition[/skill]

.also cos most of ur skills, infact all ur skills r 5e u dont really need any e maintainment. ither wise imo it looks ok

ok healths quite high so not to bad, tho u coudl drop major, or add the hp runes to ur armor. tho energy, ur really going to need to get some weapon sets out, low energy med energy and high energy. atm im not going to chat about it cos a monks weapon set needs a whole topic of there own cos u need things for so many different reasions. but ur basicly need a 25e set ( 15% more dam -5e sword/axe and a shild). my axe is 15/-5 +30hp shild is 16 req 9 ( tho cos i dont meet req i get 8 armor) with -5dam 19%.

mid line is totem axe + same shild givieng me 25e, its my base set

high set is 15/-1r wand and off hand this i use for rebirthing up and big 15e moves.

also that reminds me ur need soem res move cos most pugs demand it, but if ur confident u can hel without need of res go ahead, cos anet screwed up when they pput all the hard res moves in the monk attrabute line

How do you get 14 in protect with a Major and there is nothing wrong with Life Sheath?
